Sean Ryan is an award winning cinematographer with a deep appreciation for storytelling, craft and collaboration. With a background in VFX Supervision, Sean is able draw upon these experiences to facilitate the contemporary needs of modern filmmaking, whilst staying true to the heart of the story.

Sean has recently completed shooting the feature length Indigenous psychological thriller, The Moogai, for director Jon Bell and Causeway Films which premiered at Sundance 2024. Sean also shot the short film of the same name which earned an AACTA Nomination, was awarded Best Australian Short Film at MIFF 2020 and the Midnight Jury Short’s Award at SXSW 2021.

Other notable shorts include Eliza Scanlen’s How Can I Help you? staring Thomasin McKenzie and Generations of Men directed by Joanna Joy which are both currently on the festival circuit.

Having shot a wealth of music videos and commercials for such clients as Volvo, Samsung, Vodafone x Apple, Audi, R.M Williams and Fiji Tourism, Sean finds great joy in bringing a wide range of stories to screen.

In 2024, Sean was featured in IF Magazine’s Rising Talent issue.
